This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

a) Documents & Scanned Content

All scanned images and generated PDFs are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, store, or access your scanned documents on our servers.

b) Camera Permission

The App requires camera access only for scanning documents. We do not record video in the background or collect personal data through the camera.

c) Storage Permission

Storage permission is used to:

• Save scanned pages to your gallery
• Create and store PDF files on your device

We do not access unrelated files on your device.

d) OCR (Text Recognition)

The App uses OCR to extract text from your scanned documents. This processing is performed on your device. Extracted text is stored locally alongside your documents unless you choose to use AI features.

e) AI-Powered Document Summarization

When you utilize our AI features to generate document summaries, relevant extracted text is transmitted to third-party AI processing providers. This information is processed in real-time to fulfill your request. While DocScan does not save, store, or retain this data on its servers, the processing and potential retention of this information by the underlying AI models are subject to the privacy practices and data usage policies of the respective third-party providers (OpenRouter etc).

2. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or upload your documents or personal information to third parties. Transmission of data for AI generation is strictly limited to the functional processing described in Section 1(e).

3. Third-Party Services

DocScan utilizes trusted third-party services to provide core functionality:

• AI Processing: Used as secure pipelines for real-time AI-powered document summarization. Data handling by these providers is governed by their independent privacy policies.
• OCR Services: Google ML Kit is used for on-device text recognition.

These services do not have access to your locally stored document images. Text content is only transmitted for AI summarization when you explicitly trigger the feature.

4. Data Security

Since all documents are stored locally, you are responsible for protecting your device with appropriate security measures such as PIN or biometric lock.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
